Practicing in Staten Island, New York, Dr. Keith Berman has more than 17 years of experience as a board-certified plastic surgeon. During the course of his work with the face, breast, and body, Dr. Keith Berman often performs minimally invasive procedures. Desired patient outcomes in plastic and cosmetic surgery have changed over the past two decades. As techniques have advanced, clients have become more diverse in their reasons for seeking out surgery. Many clients aren't necessarily wanting to appear younger. The former president of the American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery, Ranella Hirsch, MD, says that more and more of today's patients are seeking balance. They are looking for procedures that make them look better, but still age-appropriate. Minimally invasive procedures (14.2 million in 2015) are now performed nearly 10 times as often as surgical procedures (1.7 million in 2015) in practices. Botox, soft tissue fillers, chemical peels, laser hair removal, and microdermabrasion are the five most requested among these services, respectively. Procedures involving the buttocks are also significantly increasing. In 2015, one of these procedures was performed an average of once every 30 minutes. Buttock augmentation increased by 28 percent, and buttock lifts and buttock implants each rose by 36 percent each. Comments are closed.
