Dr. Keith S. Berman earned his MD from the State University of New York, Downstate, and now serves as a plastic surgeon at his own state-of-the-art practice in Staten Island. Procedures offered by the clinic of Dr. Keith Berman include breast augmentations. Breast augmentations correct breast asymmetry, shape, or restore volume following a pregnancy or weight loss. To ensure the success of the procedure and promote patient recovery, plastic surgeons offer consultations on preparing for and recovering from the surgery. During a consultation, a surgeon evaluates the patient’s health, takes detailed measurements of her breast size and shape, and photographs the breasts. The surgeon recommends courses of treatment and gives instruction on preparing for the procedure. The surgeon may advise the patient to stop smoking, take or adjust certain medications, and avoid aspirin and other medications that can increase bleeding. After the procedure, the surgeon provides the patient with a support bra or elastic bandages to minimize swelling and support the breasts during the healing process. The nursing staff delivers postoperative instructions to the patient and schedules a follow-up appointment with the surgeon to monitor recovery.
